Small photowalk, a public school 2nd class

I took advantage of the nice weather to take a short walk around the neighborhood. And of course I kept to the rules, keep 1.5 meter distance! It was quiet on the street and I was able to photograph the public school 2nd class at my leisure. Located at the 3e Pijnackerstraat. The oldest neighbourhood library in the Netherlands was also located in the same building. I can’t find much info and I’am trying to add this in the future. Apparently the building will be converted in the near future into retail space with homes above it. The facade is then preserved.

Confinement, don’t judge a library by his cover

Maybe you remember this post about this library. I took this picture back in 2007, from another angle, can you understand the Centre Pompidou vibe?

A library like a Centre Pompidou!

Its a saturday, you have the weekend off, so time to read! You can visit the main library here in Rotterdam to get your books! I’ve taken a picture here before, remember? The library is build in 1983, designed by Jaap Bakema and Hans Boot. The architecture is reminiscent of the Center Pompidou in Paris, with steel pipes that run down the glass façade from the roof. On the façade on the Binnenrotte is a text from Erasmus, including his signature, in neon tube letters: “The whole world is my homeland”. And now its time to read, a book or tomorrow my next post!

Tree before books

Looking for a few photo opportunities this tree in front of the main library of Rotterdam caught my eye. I liked the light through the leaves and on the bench. So here it is, not the best picture but for sure a atmospheric one, and do not forget, this tree can become a book one day…

Library view of Rotterdam

Tonight while visiting the main library (grote bibliotheek) here in Rotterdam, taking the escalator to the 4th floor this view through the windows caught my attention. A view on Rotterdam with at the right the Grote of Sint-Laurens church, in the middle a greenish building – the world trade centre and on the left a glimp of the Markthal, a now architectural tour de force of Rotterdam. Liked the view, hope you like it too!
